"There is, unarguably, a ‘Bordeaux climate’, characterised by mild winters, early springs, reliably hot summers, and long, warm, very beautiful autumns, which suits the vine perfectly and enables it, with help from the soil, to produce the finest wines" (Professor Enjalbert).

THE TERROIR : Description of the estate

As early as the 18th century, the Carle family understood the importance of the gravely slopes in the middle of the estate for making great wine. Even today, only the best plots are used, a privilege that only this estate, the most extensive in the Saint-Emilion appellation, can afford. This is why there is a charming landscape of woodland, meadows and gardens around a large pond on the more fertile land, which is not ideal for fine wine production.

Given the size of the vineyard, about forty hectares, replanting is conducted in a planned, slow and methodical, way, not only out of respect for the older vines, but also to maintain the basic characteristics that are specific to Figeac.
